The juice of an apple on a hot day makes desire constructed and explained.
A young woman mirroring herself in the surrounding world.
Honesty melted with a sip of irony follows personal experience and observation of common attitude.
With this show the artist expands her recent concept on femininity, in relation to power dynamics and fragility, exploring its deviations through escapism and perception of intimacy. She uses ceramics as main media, merging it with found objects and matter being reincarnated through exposure that is inherent to any exhibition context.
Tsvetomira Borisova keeps her work for this project organic, in form, in perception, in motion of development. A clash of nature, decay and human-made content.
But that is not random, It is the joyous and frivolous garnish of growth, of getting into oneself and owning it. The apple rash is wildness and wisdom, the freed perception of presence (no need for adjustment).
The title of the show is taken from a drawing of Vladimir Dimitrov – Maistora, whose painted girls with apples are symbolic for a perception of humble erotics. Here, the artist just hints to those works, with a spotlight on the change in the narrative.
The production of the A Hot Day exhibition project follows a residency held earlier in May at lo3eto. Thus the presented body of work followed a paced, on-sight development allowing for experiment with production techniques and a rare dialogue of the artist and the place that is to be read within the artistic choices.
This show is the first collaboration between the artist and the curator Vanya Grozdanova.

Tsvetomira Borisova was born 1991 in Sofia. In 2016 she received her diploma in Ceramics from New Bulgarian University. In 2022 she was the resident artist in “Artist’s Studio” residency in Sarieva / Gallery, Plovdiv, which concluded with her first solo show – „Cool S“ (2022). Some of her other solo shows are: “A Place to Rest“ (2022) at Dupka Contemporary – Plovdiv; “Death at the Dinner Table: An Exploration of the Case of Johann Schobert and the Poisonous Mushrooms” (2023) at ГАРА – Sofia; “Changes” (2023), curator Boyana Djikova at Charta, Sofia. Among her group shows are the editions of Sofia Art Week, curated by Voin de Voin, “Market of Desire” (2021), an independent project of Boyana Djikova and Aaron Roth, “Sofia Underground” (2023), as the curatorial exhibition by Hristo Kaloyanov, “View With a Room” (2023), a pop-up of POSTA at Rosa Luxembourg str., Berlin. Tsvetomira is the BAZA Award winner of 2024. A member of the Union Of Bulgarian Artists since 2025.
